Itinerant Services at Elementary and High School
  • Full mainstreaming possible at any point in the child's school career
  • Intensive support for the student's communicative, academic, and personal/social needs
  • Audiological management
  • One-to-one teaching to facilitate the development of abstract thinking and general knowledge
  • Liaison with regular teachers, interpreters, integration aides, and other professionals
  • Emphasis on independence and adaptive strategies such as use of FM systems, note-takers, course outlines,
  • Assistance in planning for adaptation or modification of curriculum; help in obtaining special consideration for tests and exams
  • Close contact with parents
  • Bilingual support for students in bilingual or immersion programs
  • Counseling role to students: special understanding of hearing-impaired individual's specific needs
  • Assistance in selection of academic options and career direction
  • Advocate to student and his/her family
  • One-to-one discussions to facilitate the development of abstract thinking and general knowledge
  • Social activities with other hearing-impaired students
