Educational Programs

20% of MOSD students are taught full-time by educators of the hearing-impaired in a public school setting where they have opportunities for partial academic and social integration with their hearing peers. 80% of MOSD students are fully integrated into their local schools, with once or twice weekly services from an MOSD itinerant teacher.

In order to deal with the varying abilities of students, MOSD has developed a range of options, which allows for flexibility in meeting the needs of the children and their families. The options available to a given student depend on the child's age and distance from Montreal, among other factors. Each child's placement is reviewed yearly.
